The world is changing and we are worried.

Climate change is no longer a concern for the distant future, it is an issue for this generation.  We are worried not for the planet we will leave for our children, but for the planet we are sharing with our children.  Right now.

Actuality Media will therefore do all it can to minimise the company’s carbon footprint and to reduce the impact on the environment.

This is our climate change declaration.

Transport
We do not add to city centre congestion with a daily commute.  For daily business we walk, cycle or use public transport.  Our car is a green category (EU4 emissions class) model and essential long-distance business journeys will be carbon offset.

Energy use
We aim to reduce our energy consumption.  We use low-energy lighting in the office and no computer, photocopier, printer or similar equipment is left on standby when it’s not in use.  Our electricity is supplied by Good Energy, which is 100 per cent generated from renewable sources such as wind turbines, solar power and small-scale hydro. We expect to reduce our carbon footprint by 2,500kg in the first year.

Recycling
We recycle all glass, plastic, metal, paper and print cartridges.  Kitchen waste, teabags and coffee grounds are composted.  Confidential documents are shredded and composted too.

Stationery
Where there is a choice, we will opt for environmentally-friendly products.  We print on recycled paper for example.

Like-minded people
We like working with people who share our values.  We will not work for companies or organisations who set out to damage the environment.  We will consider preferential rates for those who seek to protect the environment – such as local authorities signed up to the Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change.
